ERRATA - KETTERING TOWN CENTRE AREA ACTION PLAN: PROPOSED SUBMISSION
Further to the publication of the above consultation, a cartographical error has been identified in the Proposals Map published on 16 August 2010 – the Primary Shopping Area boundary was not shown on the Proposal Map itself.
This has now been rectified and a revised Proposals Map has been published on the Borough Council’s this Consultation Portal.
The consultation dates specified in the Proposed Submission and Sustainability Appraisal on this Consultation Portal have been amended. We are extending the consultation period for the Kettering Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP): Proposed Submission until 25 October 2010.

Kettering Borough Council will be consulting upon the Kettering Town Centre Area
Action Plan (AAP) Proposed Submission from 16th August 2010 to 18th 25th October
2010.
The AAP proposes comprehensive development of the town centre to improve the town centre offer, improve job opportunities and to help meet the future growth requirements of the town.
The AAP sets out a vision, supported by objectives and policies to guide development and create vibrant and viable town centre.
Some of the key aims of the plan are to:
- Create a zoned town centre through the creation of eight ‘quarters’ which together will create a vibrant town centre
- Provide a significant increase in the retail offer of the town centre
- Promote high quality urban design, architecture and public realm
- Improve employment provision
- Provide a new residential community
- Create a safe, welcoming, walkable and well connected town centre
- Deliver a green town centre
Following consultation on the Issue and Options (September 2006) and the Preferred
Options (August 2008) for the Kettering Town Centre AAP, the Council has considered all responses made in
formulating the Proposed Submission version of the plan. This is the final version of the AAP ahead of
formal submission to the Secretary of State for independent examination. The Proposed Submission AAP was
approved by Planning Policy Committee on 28th July 2010 and is now available for an
8 9 weeks statutory representation period commencing Monday 16th August.
How can you get involved?
This is the final opportunity to make your representations on the AAP prior to its submission to the Secretary of State. Representations at this stage must be made on the soundness of the plan rather than as individual detailed objections to its content. This is because all previous comments of this nature received have informed the writing of this version of the Plan.
Planning Policy Statement 12 states that ‘in order to be considered ‘sound’ a Plan must be justified, effective and consistent with national policy’. This is further explained within the Proposed Submission AAP and the accompanying guidance notes.
The statutory period for representations on legal compliance and the
soundness of the plan will run from Monday 16th August 2010 to 5.30pm on Monday 18th 25th
October 2010.
All documents can be viewed and comments can be made via our online consultation portal: http://consult.kettering.gov.uk/portal.
Alternatively, reference copies of the Proposed Submission AAP, Sustainability Appraisal, Representation Procedure and Response Form can be viewed at:
