Improving transport in and around Kettering Town Centre

What are we consulting on?

We are currently seeking views on the Draft Kettering Town Centre Transport Strategy, which will inform the preparation of the Kettering Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP). The AAP, once adopted, will form a key part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), a suite of documents that will contain planning policies to guide all future development across the Borough.

The Borough Council would like to gain your views on the Draft Kettering Town Centre Transport Strategy

The Draft Kettering Town Centre Transport Strategy has been prepared to present proposals for improvements to the transport network in and around Kettering Town Centre, including pedestrian and cycle routes, public transport, parking and the road network.

How can you get involved?

The consultation period will run from Friday 9 October to 5.30pm on Friday 6 November 2009.

• Documents can be viewed and downloaded and comments made via this online consultation portal:
  • a) By clicking on 'Read Document', below, you can view the 8 page summary document of the Transport Strategy and make comments online by answering the questions that are presented.
  • b) By clicking on 'Supporting Documents', below, you can download and view:
    • The full version of the Transport Strategy
    • An 8 page summary leaflet
    • A 2 page summary leaflet
    • The Representation Procedure
    • A Response Form to provide any written feedback you'd like to make (the questions are the same as the ones which can be completed online by following step a), above).
• Alternatively, paper copies of the document can be viewed at, collected from and written comments sent to Development Services (Planning Policy and Infrastructure  Team), Kettering Borough Council, Municipal Offices, Bowling Green Road, Kettering, NN15 7QX.
• The Plans will also be available to view at the Newlands Centre, Kettering Library and the Customer Services Area at Kettering Borough Council, Bowling Green Road, Kettering.

Please come along to one of the two exhibitions we are holding to view the proposals, ask questions and give your views.  These are to be held in the Kettering Borough Council ‘road show trailer’ on:

Friday 16 October 10am – 2pm	Gold Street, Kettering
Saturday 17 October 10am – 2pm	Gold Street, Kettering

Once the consultation period has closed, the Council will review the representations made and have regard to them in preparing the next draft of the Kettering Town Centre Area Action Plan.  All public representations will be available to view at the Council offices and on our consultation portal.  For these reasons please note that your comments and any identifying information contained in your response will not remain confidential.

Town Centre Area Action Plan Topic Paper

Kettering Borough Council is also publishing an Kettering Town Centre Area Action Plan Topic Paper which sets out the evidence base for the housing, retail and commercial land allocations made in the Plan. This is available for information purposes, under 'Supporting Documents' (below) and at www.kettering.gov.uk/ldf
